Everything you need to know but were not afraid to ask….

Here’s where your athlete will be training.

Thee Attack Barn, Pataskala, OHIO

This train center is truly unique.  A standalone training facility that houses all Attack System events.  In the summer, athletes can stay overnight while enjoying the benefits of our outside pool, as well as a game room (complete with ping pong and pool tables) in the basement of our house.

This facility also has a locker room complete with 5 curtained shower stalls, and an extra bathroom with a shower as well.

There’s also plenty of space in the hallway for parents to hang out, as well as the office/lounge area with a coffee machine and a mini fridge.

Training Protocols

Athletes are expected to be ready to train, mentally and physically, at the start of training.

Parents are discouraged from being on the mats.  This is so the athletes can focus on the coach who is training them (me), and also for spacing and safety considerations.  There is plenty of space in the hallway and the lounge/office.

Athletes should be prepared to listen attentively while instruction is happening.  This includes not interrupting, and raising one’s hand if they have a question.  I will go over this with the athletes at the start of the session.

Athletes need to always ask permission before leaving the wrestling room.   The answer will usually be “yes", but its common courtesy.

This training is designed for athletes who are ready to work hard and improve rapidly.

Attack System Health Protocol

The following protocol applies to ALL athletes and parents in the program – be ready to follow each step when you arrive.

Email Check-in: Every day of training, I send an email out at 9:15 am.   Your response is requested in reporting the following:

Does your child have:

  • Fever
  • Other illnesses
  • Injured/out of commision
  • Any rashes on the body.  All potential skin conditions will be checked prior to the session.  If your athlete is able to compete and we are able to adequately protect the athletes in the room by covering it, we will do so (coach’s decision).  Skin disease is the #1 reason for downtime in wrestling.  We take the responsible route of ensuing the health and safety of every athlete who trains here.

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of training.  (If you will be late for some reason, please let me know in advance so I can prepare accordingly.)

All athlete will then undergo a skin check while stripped to a suitable undergarment (yes, that means have underwear on).  A singlet is acceptable as well

Athletes will weigh in at this time as well.  The first practice, please tell me your weight class at state.

When athletes step onto the mat, they will step onto the “sole mat" first.  This is mat has a disinfectant solution to clean the soles of shoes, to prevent germs and bacteria from getting on the mats.

Then they will dry their shoes on the sole drying mat.

Prior to training, athletes will apply Kenshield to exposed skin.  Keep it away from your eyes though.  We will have plenty of Kenshield available to the athletes.

After the training session:  Showers are available but not required for this training.
