Q: What is the purpose of the Try-out?
A: The purpose is two-fold. First, I am looking for dedicated, committed athletes who are ready to challenge themselves and compete on my Elite Squad (aka, Club Simpson Elite). Q: What happens to those who try-out, who maybe aren’t ready to join your Elite Squad?
A. Everyone who trains on the 24th will be offered a spot in Club Simpson – NOBODY will be turned away from spring training.
Q: What if I’ve never wrestled Freestyle/Greco before? Is it even worth it to try out?
A: Absolutely. Every spring, athletes who have never wrestled freestyle/greco before, end up competing on our Elite Squad. I will teach you what you need to know – and because of our fast implementation training techniques, you have an opportunity to learn critical skills faster here than anywhere.
Q: What are the main qualities you are looking for in an Elite Squad athlete?
A: I am looking for attitude, work ethic, commitment. I could care less what your record was this year. If you have the above qualities, you should definitely give this a try.
Q: I play another sport in the spring. Should I consider this?
A: Every year we have athletes in our Club Simpson program that play other sports. As for Elite Squad, some athletes play another sport also – but we should discuss what the schedule looks like to determine what level of commitment is a fit for you.
